Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin), Legal Expert
Graduated from the universities of Wuerzburg, Barcelona and Freiburg in 1997. Graduated as a fully qualified lawyer in 1999. He holds a doctoral degree in tax law. Before joining BaFin in 2005 he worked for Deloitte, an international auditing and consultancy firm. Additionally, he qualified as a tax adviser. Since 2005, Matthias Hoeninger has been working as an expert for BaFin´s Legal and Policy Section in the Investment Funds Department. The section supports the development of German and European investment law, represents BaFin in international committees (such as CESR and IOSCO) as far as investment law is concerned, and contributes to the legal and supervisory framework of new investment products. Matthias Hoeninger represented BaFin in the CESR Expert Group on Eligible Assets for UCITS. He also acts as a short-term expert for drafting legislation regarding UCITS, corporate law and auditing within the framework of the Twinning Project with the Turkish CMB. Currently, he is seconded to the Federal Ministry of Finance to coordinate the revision of the German Investment Act. |
