Ladies and Gentlemen,

It is my distinct pleasure to gather in Istanbul with the distinguished representatives of capital market authorities, exchanges and academia who will join our conferences from truly distant spots over the globe.

Nevertheless, the global nature and interconnected state of today’s financial markets unite us here with very reasonable causes.

Considering this, Capital Markets Board of Turkey, as part of its 30th anniversary celebration, is honored to welcome you to the “Reform and Regulation in Financial Markets” conference and to the exploratory roundtable “Corporate Governance, Innovation and Value Creation” organized in partnership with the OECD.

With these meetings, we aim to discuss post financial crisis regulation approaches and reform needs as to credit rating agencies, OTC derivatives, financial education, bond markets, SME finance by capital markets.

Our exploratory roundtable is designed to put forward fresh perspectives on improving economic efficiency and growth through private enterprise against the substantial and rapid changes in both financial and corporate sectors and will explore to what extent corporate governance legal and regulatory framework to adopt these developments and will be decisive for enterprises’ access to finance, value creation and contribution to economic growth.

I look forward to welcome you in Istanbul and wish you find our sessions enlightening.

Chairman,
Capital Markets Board of Turkey
